The Iranian society is now in a very critical situation due to the transition from tradition to modern times, and among the social institutions which affected by this situation is the Iranian family.Cultural policymakers inevitably have to intervene and provide related education in order to reduce social harm in the family. Given that the women are the most important audiences of radio programs and have a key role to play in the creation of a love affair in the family, radio programs can be a beneficial space for the such trainings. The present study, using the Grounded Theory approach , compiled the data needed to analyze the role of radio in promoting communication skills in the family through in-depth interviews with 17 housewives who were the regular audience of radio programs. Data analysis showed that according to the readiness and satisfaction of women and the severe need for communication skills in the family, a significant contribution from the programs heard by the women have dedicated to news topics, entertainment such as radio contests and listening to music, and Family educational programs such as child-rearing based on day-to-day needs and requirements, communication and marriage skills have included a small part of the radio programs that The participants in this research have been addressing. The conceptual model also shows meaningful relationships between the categories related to the listening to radio programs by the audiences.
