Media literacy literally means media knowledge. In other words, it is a perception based on skills by which we can identify and segregate media products. Media literacy gives the audience an opportunity to analyze and select messages. In this way, the audience does not merely use media for fun and entertainment but also to reproduce and interpret the messages consciously. In this research, it is emphasized on importance of minor audience’s understanding through media literacy. The age group of 3-6 years, has the highest brain power to learn and experience from the surroundings. But due to lack of complete physical and mental growth, willingly or not, children less involved in message selection, so they are exposed to the variety of useful and harmful messages. Therefore, in the production of radio programs, it should be considered to promote media literacy in this age group. Based on James Potter’s media literacy theory, this research studies on inability of children as a selector audience and notes on how to have skills in choosing the appropriate messages and finally it is presented the guidelines for optimal production of radio programs. The methodology of this study is documentary, qualitative content analysis and deep interview.
