Guide for Authors

Author Guidelines

Dear Authors,

Please prepare and format your manuscript according to the following guidelines and template:

  • Authors can initially register all co-authors and their order in the submission system based on priority. After the peer review process begins, it is not possible to add additional authors. Therefore, ensure that the number and order of authors, as well as the corresponding author, are correctly specified at the time of submission. To avoid issues later, please accurately enter authors’ affiliations in the system at the beginning.

  • The maximum length of a scientific manuscript is 9,000 words. It is recommended to use Calibri font, size 14 for consistency across computer systems. Page size should be A4, with 3 cm margins and 1.0 line spacing.

  • The manuscript file must include the English title, abstract, and keywords at the end of the file (without author names).


Article Structure

The approved structure of a scientific article for the Quarterly Scientific Journal of Audio-Visual Media is as follows:

  1. Title Page

    • Persian title (maximum 15 words)

    • Persian abstract (150–250 words)

    • Persian keywords (4–7 words)

  2. Author Names and Affiliations

  3. Persian Abstract (max 250 words)

  4. Persian Keywords (4–7 words)

  5. Introduction

  6. Literature Review

  7. Theoretical Framework

  8. Research Methodology

  9. Research Findings

  10. Conclusion

  11. Recommendations

  12. References (Persian, English, Arabic, Latin)

  13. English Title, Abstract & Keywords


1. Persian Title

  • Maximum 15 words; precise, clear, concise, and reflecting the main idea.

  • Avoid words like “Study of,” “Research on,” “Evaluation” except for meta-analyses.

  • Include dependent and independent variables in the title if applicable.

  • For articles derived from theses or projects, the title does not need to exactly match the original.


2. Author Names and Affiliations

  • Follow the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology regulations (2014, Article “ح”, Clause 40) and the Ethics in Research Charter (Chapter 9, Clause 38).

  • Author order for articles derived from Master’s or PhD theses:

    1. Student

    2. First Supervisor

    3. Second Supervisor

    4. First Advisor

    5. Second Advisor

  • Submission System Note: Do not check “Corresponding Author” during initial registration. By default, the author uploading the manuscript is responsible for tracking revisions.

  • Author Details:

    • Provide full names in Persian and English.

    • Indicate the corresponding author with (Corresponding Author).

    • List authors by priority (1–n).

    • Do not include non-academic or organizational job titles.

    • Faculty members must provide university email addresses.

    • Students’ titles: use only “Student”; do not use “Graduate” or “Alumnus.”

    • Specify academic degree and major; do not include doctoral/professor titles.

    • Include full names and titles of supervisors/advisors for thesis-derived articles.

Student Author:
Mohammad Ebrahimi; M.A. Student in Research on Communication, Department of Communication, Communication and Media Faculty, IRIB University, Tehran, Iran. (Corresponding Author)

Graduate Author:
Fatemeh Mohammadi; M.A. in Television Production, Department of Television, Radio and Television Production Faculty, IRIB University, Tehran, Iran.

Faculty Member:
Ali RajabZade Tahmasebi; Associate Professor, Department of Television, Radio and Television Production Faculty, IRIB University, Tehran, Iran. (Corresponding Author)


3. Persian Abstract

  • Maximum 250 words. Suggested structure:
    a) Introduction: 1–2 lines
    b) Research Aim/Question: up to 2 lines
    c) Methodology: up to 2 lines
    d) Key Findings: main part of the abstract, highlighting major results
    e) Conclusion: up to 2 lines


4. Persian Keywords

  • 4–6 keywords extracted from the abstract, representing main research concepts.

  • Order can be general-to-specific or alphabetical.


5. Introduction

  • Include background, problem statement, main objectives, research questions, or hypotheses.

  • Present a comprehensive overview so the reader understands the study context.


6. Literature Review

  • Present preliminary background on the research topic.

  • Review previous studies analytically or critically.

  • Highlight research gaps and justify the need for the current study.


7. Theoretical Framework

  • Briefly describe the theories applied in the study.

  • These theories should be analyzed and interpreted in the findings section.


8. Research Methodology

  • Describe research design, approach, population, instruments, and analysis methods.

  • Specify whether the study is qualitative, quantitative, or mixed.

  • Clearly define participants and sampling methods.

  • Describe instruments: if standard, provide name, validity, and reliability briefly; if developed by researchers, give full details.

  • Explain statistical or qualitative analysis procedures.


9. Research Findings

  • Present and analyze data using quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods.

  • Use tables, figures, or charts as appropriate.

  • Clearly answer research questions and indicate whether hypotheses are supported.


10 & 11. Conclusion and Recommendations

  • Interpret findings, compare with previous research, and indicate research significance.

  • Mention limitations and provide practical or theoretical recommendations.


12. References

  • Follow APA 7th edition for in-text citations and reference list.
