The aim of this research is explaining the effective features of puppet characters in preschool puppet television programs, through the extraction of common categories and subcategories between the dramatic features of the character and the non-directive learning pattern. The research method is qualitative and descriptive-analytical (case study) with categorization and inductive approach. For this purpose, the character "Barney" from the series "Barney and Friends" has been chosen as the subject of study through purposeful sampling from the society under investigation. Then, the six main categories revealing the nature of personality (from Alan Armor's point of view) and the effect of the non-directive learning model have been examined. The findings suggest that the features of the study’s case (Barney's personality) are largely close to dramatic characteristics with an emphasis on the non-directive learning pattern. Therefore, the extracted subcategories with emphasis on the non-directive teaching model are directly related to the creation of puppet characters suitable for educational collections. Therefore, this educational model can be used in the design of a doll character based on the nature and educational situation of the program
