The purpose of this research is to know the effective factors in managing and controlling the audience's attention at the moment of encountering an image and also accessing the shared ground for the mental image in the literature and illustration. In visual arts and also literature and poetry, we face illustration (image-creation). Sometimes, this image appears so important that some believe that without it, no art -especially no poem- exists. Any visual sign should be meaningful for the viewer of it. What causes a viewer to concentrate on one or several signs, among several signs in an image, is the artist’s management of controlling these factors which are important for the audience’s understanding. This research is a comparative study that has analyzed the factors affecting the audiences’ attraction in two modes of image and poetry through qualitative method. The sampling was purposeful and based on the research aims. Accordingly, 15 effective regulations on attracting the attention of the audience have been extracted and analyzed in some images and poems. Based on the findings of the study, visualization, attention and durability of the mental image leads to better and more influential transferring of the message to the audience’s mind and the most lasting images are those with serious focal points and clearer messages. This influence of the message and duration of the image have special roles in designing and creation of specific behavior on the part of the audience. The result is more intimacy between literature and graphics.
