This article examines the connection between Spider-Man films and the theory of the culture industry put forward by Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer, of the founders of Frankfurt School. The culture industry which, from their perspective, is a tool for reproducing consumerist and hegemonic values in capitalist societies, is mentioned in the analysis of superhero films by citing the continuous sequels and remakes of the films. In this cinema, moral and legal values are considered as a means to propagate the dominant ideology of American capitalism. However, Spider-Man's works present fundamental critiques of capitalism and explore the alienation caused by the effects of media and consumer culture on individual and social life. Therefore, despite superhero cinema's dependence on the framework of the culture industry, the concept of individual freedom and resistance to cultural domination is emphasized in these works. In this article, all three cinematic works produced with a focus on Spider-Man are examined using a descriptive-analytical method, taking into account contemporary research on the redefinition of popular culture in the digital age. The results of the research show that Spider-Man films have achieved concepts such as justice, sacrifice, and morality, not with commercial or ideological goals, but with a critical attitude towards standardization, consumerism, fetishization, rationalization, alienation, and social control.
